Yes folks after much effort to make the series more amiable, the markers and channel have canceled the series. The director of the spinoff said in an interview that season 5 would have brought a time jump, making ‘The Vampire Diaries’ story into a bolder stand. He said-
We would have been in a time-jump scenario…the fun of the fifth season would be to take those characters… and then move them beyond it and throw them into lives beyond it..how they would all find their way back to one another…

The speculation for season 5 was that the season only focused on teenagers, learning to control their powers. It is said that fans were starting to get bored after season 4. The rating started to drop and hence the makers canceled the series. it was also mentioned that season 5 could have introduced Elena & Damon’s kid.
